A Short Overview

1868 Foundation of the Company by Carl Albert and Emilie Greiner in Nürtingen/Stuttgart
1878 While visiting the World Exhibition in Paris, Carl Albert Greiner acquires a cork cutting machine
1899 Hermann Greiner (second eldest son of Carl Albert) is asked to build a bottle cork factory in Kremsmünster, Upper Austria
1950 In the 1950s, the cork producing countries establish exorbitant export taxes for cork, which leads to increasing the production of polymers within the family company C.A.Greiner and Sons. In the early 1950s, Erwin Greiner moves to Johannisthal (Schwanenstadt, Upper Austria) and starts to rebuild an acquired spinning company. This is said to be the actual start of Greiner PURtec.
1965 Begin foam moulding production in Schwanenstadt
1967 Merger of spinning mill and change of corporate name into C.A. Greiner und Söhne, Kremsmünster. Spinning production is phased out and in its place a foam moulding production plant is established
1980 Production of the first rigid foam insulation
1983 Insulation production of former nationalized Semperit AG is acquired
1986 Begin aircraft cushion production. Within the first year, about 100 pieces are produced
1998 Greiner PURtec becomes an independent company consolidated by the Greiner Holding AG
1999 Greiner PURtec founds the Czech subsidiary Greiner PURtec spol.s.r.o. in Nyrsko
2000 Relocation of the entire soft insulation foam production from Schwanenstadt to Nyrsko
2003 Opening of the North-American subsidiary in Fort Worth, Texas
2004 Acquisition of former competitor Foliplast, Germany
2005 Enlargement of the Czech subsidiary with commencement of aircraft seat cushion and dress cover production
2006 November – Inauguration of Chinese subsidiary in Shanghai. December - Begin aircraft seat production at Greiner PURtec, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas
2007 October - Change of company name Foliplast to Greiner PURtec GmbH Germany
2008 Construction of the new production facility in Nyrsko, Czech Republic
2009 Establishment of production at the new facility in Nyrsko, Cz
2010 Establishment of strategic office and stock warehouse in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland
2011 Greiner aerospace name and logo introduced, still registered as Greiner PURtec GmbH
2012 September - Separation of the "aerospace" business unit from Greiner PURtec GmbH complete
